Disk Golf
I had a great day recently with a good friend plalying disk golf, of all things. I’d never played it before and, to be honest, always thought it sounded a bit weird. But truth is it’s a lot of fun. I was brand new at it so I did lousy, but really enjoyed it. Perhaps I’ll take the sport up.
It was the first time in many moons that I’d done anything with someone outside of my wife and kids. So it got me to thinking how important it is for us to stay busy and get out of our heads.
When you have leukemia it gets easy to slow down and let go of the things you used to do.
My time with my friend reminded me that there is a life outside of my brain. Leuk doesn’t get to control me. I can still be me.
So, if you find yourself slipping into a narrower life, get back into living. Whatever limitations Leuk is giving you physically, you can still be you. Don’t let him mess with your thoughts. Continue the fight. Continue to be who you are. Don’t let him take over.
